The Commonwealth War Graves Commission was established by royal charter during the first world war to honour and remember those who gave their lives in defence of freedom. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have watched with dismay the disgraceful penny-pinching activities of the Government at first hand. I know from so many people what comfort they have received from visiting the graves and memorials and finding them so carefully tended. ![]() How contemptible and disgraceful it is of the Government to have so dishonoured those service men and women who lost their lives in two world wars in defence of our freedom by denying the Commonwealth War Graves Commission the money it needs to maintain memorial cemeteries and records, records which enable people to trace the resting place of service men and women whose memory they cherish.
